Tile Coasters Tutorial

Tile coasters make great inexpensive gifts. If you missed my recent Tile coaster class, but would love to make coasters for Christmas gifts.  This is the tutorial for you.

Supplies Needed:

Tumbled Tiles (unglazed) Think Lowe's or Home Depot

Stazon Jet Black Ink #101406

Stampin' Pastels #105542

Blender Pens #102845

Matte Finish Spray -I used Krylon

Coasters 001

Ink your stamp with Jet Black Stazon ink.  The tile will have an unfinished side and a finished side.  It may be a good idea to practice stamp on the unfinished size, and then stamp on finished side.  Note: The unfinished side will feel rougher.

Coasters 003

Pick up color with your blender pen.  I love the control that blender pens offer in tight spaces.

Coasters 002

Add color to your tile, reloading frequently until you are satisfied with the final picture.

Coasters 004

Apply three thin coats of Matte spray, allowing spray to dry between each coat.  It's important to spray in a well ventilated area that's warm enough for the spray to dry properly.

Finally, glue on the backing, either a cork mat or felt.
