Country Livin' Side by Side

Country Livin' Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Do you ever have a card turn out entirely different than you had planned.   I started out with lots and lots of bright cheerful flowers, but they just weren't working with the tinted wood that I just had to try after I saw an Artisan Team Member do it.  (Hint:  Simply roll some ink over the the Wood Textures Designer Paper.  Wow!)  Scrap the flower out came the boots from the Country Livin' stamp set.

Country Livin' Boots Coloring Technique

Coloring Technique for Boots

I colored both boots essentially the same way;  I just changed the colors ( Soft Suede, Calypso Coral Bermuda Bay).  Hint:  Watercolor paper is a must when coloring with Aqua Painters on a bigger surface such as the boots.  First, I washed my base coat of color over my boots.  Then, I went back and added deeper color everywhere that had lines and creases.  The boot stamp from the Country Livin' stamp set makes it easy, because the lines and creases are plain to see.  And finally, for even deeper color, I used my markers to color the soles and accent pieces.  Hers are Bermuda Bay and his are Soft Suede.

Country Livin' Stampin' Up!

I did end up using my original stamp set for the Side by Side sentiment.  Remember all the bright and cheerful flowers that I ended up not using?  Anyway the sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  The watercolored boots compliment the washed wood look so much better than stamped flowers.  The grass is the grass beneath the truck in the Country Livin' Stamp set.

My inspiration for today's card came from two different sources.

This Little Piggy

This Little Piggy

Hello Friend,

Who knew pigs could be so cute!  The This Little Piggy stamp set has so many adorable images.  The pig that I used today looks like she's skipping through life enjoying every moment.  Let's take a closer look.

Hogs & Kisses Card Tips

There's even a stamp that has hog kisses which I stamped with Flirty Flamingo Ink.

I watercolored little miss piggy with a 2017-2019 In Color-Powder Pink.  After watercoloring my sweet little pig, I realized that Powder Pink can also be used as a flesh color.  It's a lovely peachy pink.

The Layering circles were cut with the Layering Circle Dies.

And the lovely Daisy Paper is from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper pack.

This Little Piggy

The This little Piggy stamp set is a set of 9 stamps, but.....for more flexibility try separating your words from your piggies by snipping them apart with your snips and suddenly you have a set of 13 stamps.

National Vascular Birthmark Day

My Heart Similes Thinking of You

Today, May 15th, is the first ever National Vascular Birthmark Awareness Day.  Which of course, means that it's time to make a card for the occasion, but more importantly, let's put heart shaped "birthmarks" on our cheeks for Vascular Birthmark Awareness.  I'll share details about the today's card in just a bit, but first let me share our story.

National Vascular Birthmark Awareness Day

Our precious grandson, Levi, was born almost 3 years ago with a Port Wine Birthmark on the left side of his face, but that has not  changed his sunny disposition in the least.  Levi with his ready smile is a little bundle of energy and mischief.  And he always brings a smile to my heart.  Life is beautiful!

Levi, Julie, Lincoln

Here's Levi, Julie (his Mama) and Lincoln (his brother) celebrating National Vascular Birthmark Awareness Day together.  I suspect that Dad is behind the camera, so he's celebrating too.  Lincoln has always been a bit jealous that Levi has a birthmark, so he was delighted to have a birthmark for a day.

Love You Lots

Today's card gives one last hurray for the fabulous Love you Lots and Suite Sayings Stamp sets.  Both sets are on the Retirement List so their days are numbered.  The Love You Lots stamp set is a hostess set, so it is only available to order on orders over $150.  The little frog was stamped on a piece of the Eastern Palace designer paper and fussy cut.

Not everything is retiring.  The Scribbly heart is was cut with a die from the Sunshine Wishes Dies and the Soft Sky Stitched Square was cut with the Stitched Shapes dies.

And the fun Lemon Lime Twist Envelope was fashioned with the Envelope Punch Board.  The Lemon Lime Envelope should be a real stand out in the mailbox.
