Country Livin' Side by Side

Country Livin' Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Do you ever have a card turn out entirely different than you had planned.   I started out with lots and lots of bright cheerful flowers, but they just weren't working with the tinted wood that I just had to try after I saw an Artisan Team Member do it.  (Hint:  Simply roll some ink over the the Wood Textures Designer Paper.  Wow!)  Scrap the flower out came the boots from the Country Livin' stamp set.

Country Livin' Boots Coloring Technique

Coloring Technique for Boots

I colored both boots essentially the same way;  I just changed the colors ( Soft Suede, Calypso Coral Bermuda Bay).  Hint:  Watercolor paper is a must when coloring with Aqua Painters on a bigger surface such as the boots.  First, I washed my base coat of color over my boots.  Then, I went back and added deeper color everywhere that had lines and creases.  The boot stamp from the Country Livin' stamp set makes it easy, because the lines and creases are plain to see.  And finally, for even deeper color, I used my markers to color the soles and accent pieces.  Hers are Bermuda Bay and his are Soft Suede.

Country Livin' Stampin' Up!

I did end up using my original stamp set for the Side by Side sentiment.  Remember all the bright and cheerful flowers that I ended up not using?  Anyway the sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  The watercolored boots compliment the washed wood look so much better than stamped flowers.  The grass is the grass beneath the truck in the Country Livin' Stamp set.

My inspiration for today's card came from two different sources.

May All Your Tomorrows...

Colorful Seasons Stampin' Up!

 Hello Friends,

"May all your tomorrows be as happy as today",  what a lovely thought and a great stamp.  It's one of 24 stamps from the Colorful Seasons stamp set.  I'm not sure what season is depicted on today's card.  I simply stamped whatever made me happy.  So let your imagination choose the season or not.

Colorful Seasons Stampin' Up!

Technique Corner

Here's my thought process.  First, I splashed a bit of sunshine across my card with my Daffodil Delight Ink Refill and my Aqua Painter.  Then, I stamped cheerful red flowers and lush green leaves to merrily dance across the face of my card.  I splattered water with a drop of Pool Party Ink  to look like refreshing drops of rain.  The Maple leaves (Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies) were added simply because I love the lacey look.

Is it a specific season?  I don't know, but I love the happy look.

Color Throwdown

Plus, it totally captures the snappy, bright look of this  Color Throwdown  challenge of green, yellow, red and aqua.  I choose Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pool Party.   The Pool Party is not quite as bold as the Aqua in the challenge, but I claim artistic license.
