2 Card Challenges

Positive Thoughts Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

During these uncertain times escaping to your Craft Space and letting your creativity run wild is even more important than ever.  So today, I have 2 card challenges for you to get your mojo started.  Are you up for the challenge?  Let me first tell you about the 2 challenges and then I will share tips for making today's card.

Card Color Challenge

Challenge #1 Color

Try making a card, a scrapbook layout or any other papercraft using Calypso Coral, Pretty Peacock, Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.

Follow Your Art Stampin' Up!

Challenge #2

Most of us have a hefty stash of beautiful designer paper.  Here's the Challenge.  Use your designer paper in an unexpected way.  For example, I used the Follow Your Art Designer Paper to make today's card.  Naturally, the Follow Your Art Designer Paper was designed to be used with the Follow Your Art Suite found on pages 52-54 of the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  I used a piece that looked like a color wash as a panel on my card.  To make it even more interesting, I stamped "Hugs, Prayers and Love" directly on my designer paper.

Positive Thoughts Stampin' Up!

Let's talk about today's card which used both of today's challenges.  Everything was stamped with the Positive Thoughts stamp set using colors from today's Color Challenge.  I do have a confession to make.  The die set that I used for today's card is not currently available, but.......it will be available again with the launch of the 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  The dies are called Nature's Thoughts.  So if you missed them in February watch for them in June. Finishing touches for today's card are a Crushed Curry Double Bow and a bit of Smoky Slate Splatters.  Simply make a watery mix of Smoky Slate ink and splatter with either an Aqua Painter or a paintbrush.

6 Tips for Making Stacks of Homemade Cards

Making Stacks of Homemade Cards

Hello Friends,

Last week I received several handmade cards in my mailbox.  I was delighted!  It makes you feel warm inside to know that someone cared enough to craft a hand stamped just for you.  This week I plan to pay it forward.  I'm making over a hundred "Thinking of You with all my Heart" cards to mail.  Today's Blog Post includes 6 Tips for uncomplicating Making a Stack of Handmade Cards.

Stitched So Sweetly Dies Stampin' Up!

Tip Number 1

Cut all your pieces at once.  Hint: I was surprised to discover that I was able to cut 3 pieces at once with my Stitched So Sweetly dies!  It is important to note that I was cutting designer paper.  Card Stock is much thicker.  And that brings me to another point, now is a fantastic time to share all that "special" paper that you have been stashing away.  One other added bonus of cutting stacks of shapes at once is that it produces fun confetti to be used for a future project.  Do you see it in the background?

Welcome Easter Stampin' Up!

Tip Number 2

Use your Stamparatus stamp positioning tool to stamp all your stamped images at once.  It such a relief to be able to go back and restamp if the image isn't dark enough or complete enough with the first stamping.  Plus, everything is set up for quick even stamping.

Basket Weave Embossing Folder

Tip Number 3

Do all you dry embossing at once.  I was quite pleased that I was able to place 3 pieces of card stock in my embossing folder at once.  I was done in a third of the time!

Welcome Easter Stampin' Up!Tips Number 4 and 5

Color all your images at once.  I colored his ears, nose, and feet pads with my Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blend.  I colored his cheeks with my Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blend.  Then, I colored a few light shadows with my Light Pool Party Stampin' Blend.

Tip number 5, notice that I skipped coloring the left side of my bunny.  It disappears behind my sentiment anyway.

Card Making Tips

Tip Number 6

Only trim around the parts of the bunny that will show.  Why spend extra time fussy cutting things that aren't going to show?

Thinking of You Card

Notice that the From My Heart Designer Paper looks perfectly dandy paired with the little bunny from the Welcome Easter Stamp set proving once again that the From My Heart paper stretches well beyond Valentine's Day.

Welcome Easter Stampin' Up!

The Basket Weave Embossing Folder makes an interesting textured background for the bunny.  I embossed 3 colors of card stock with my embossing folder to match my designer paper.  The colors were Whisper White, Real Red, and Flirty Flamingo.
