Express Yourself Lob Snowballs at 2020

Hello Friends,

I tend to express myself with my card making.  Today's handmade card is an excellent example of that.  I can easily imagine lobbing snowballs at 2020.  Be honest, wouldn't you like to do the same?  I thought yesterday's Freezin' Fun Valentine would be my last card showcasing the Freezin' Fun set, but I simply couldn't resist playing with this adorable set one last time with a Happy New Year Card. 

Pictured above the Freezin' Fun critters are pelting 2020 with snowballs, but that's only the first half of my Freezin' Fun Slimline Card.

The second half of my card welcomes 2021.  The dates on both ends of the card were cut with the Playful Alphabet dies.  The "Just a card to say hello" is a leftover piece from a card that I made a few days ago using the Many Messages stamp set and the Messages die set.  As depicted by my card, I am believing that 2021 will be a much better year.

Everything else is stamped and/or cut with the Freezin' Friends stamp set and the Freezin' Friends dies.  Both will only be available for another week or WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.

Freezin' Fun Valentine

Hello Friends,

I have to admit that I was intensely disappointed when I saw that Freezin' Fun landed on the Stampin' Up! Close-Out list.  I had big plans that involved making Freezin' Fun Valentines.  There are just so many adorable images set in a winter scene that would be perfect for Valentine's Day. 

Well, the good news is that the Freezin' Fun Bundle is still available until January 4, 2021, or WHILE SUPPLIES LAST so you can still scoop up this adorable set before they are gone for good.

For a soft snowy effect, I splattered Pool Party ink with my Water Painter (151298).

The hearts made all the difference in turning this card into a Valentine.  The big Poppy Parade heart in the sunrise was punched with a punch from the Heart Punch Pack.

The two new toys from the January-June, 2021 Stampin' Up! Catalogs are the cute Resin Heart and the fabulous new blending brushes.  Wow!  I love those brushes!  I'll share how to use them in an upcoming video.  Did you notice the soft sunrise?  It was brushed on with the blending brushes using So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo inks.  Bonus:  The sentiment was stamped on a label cut with the new Messages die that I talked about in yesterday's blog post.

Triple Action Punch Power

Hello Friends,

Today's 6 Handmade Cards demonstrate Triple Action Punch Power.  I am a big proponent of Punches especially when they coordinate with a cute stamp set.  You get a lot of bang for your buck plus they are easy to use.  Let's see what we can do with the Pine Tree Punch and the Moose punch.

The coordinating stamp sets and the Merry Moose stamps and the Perfectly Plaid stamps. Let's explore further how to make these 6 six cards quickly and economically.

This pair of Merry Moose and Perfectly Plaid cards start with negatives made by simply punching through a plain sheet of Whisper White Card Stock cut 3-1/2" x 4-3/4".  Both the Moose Punch and the Pine Tree Punch make beautiful negatives.  Next, I stamped a sentiment from their matching stamp sets, Merry Moose or Perfectly Plaid.  To keep things uncomplicated I used Cherry Cobbler Ink for all 6 cards.  Cherry Cobbler compliments the Plaid Tidings Designer Paper quite nicely!  I backed the whole thing with a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Plaid Tiding Paper.

After completing my first two cards, I noticed a slice of plaid paper leftover from each card, and low and behold I could quite easily punch several more moose or trees from those scraps.  Viola!  I am on my way to making 2 more gorgeous cards!  Mirroring the first two cards I made two more cards using the moose and the tree punched from the scraps. On the first two cards I popped up the white panels, but on these two cards I popped up the moose and tree using dimensionals.  You may have noticed that I also moved the sentiments to below rather than above.  Yay, I had 4 simple yet elegant cards completed in record time!

Fabulous!  Now let's talk about the last two cards.  It's fun to challenge myself to use up the scraps from previous cards.  In this case, I used the white punched shapes leftover from the first two cards and the strips of white card stock leftover from cutting the panels from the first four cards.  Boom!  This is coming together nicely.  To stretch my designer paper, I cut my Perfectly Plaid panels 3" x 4-1/4".  Since the paper is 6" x 6" I was able to make two cards from each sheet.
